World Suicide Prevention Day
Today is World Suicide Prevention day
Did you know a little small talk can be all it takes to interrupt someone’s suicidal thoughts?
This quote is taken from one of Samaritans Campaigns… Small Talk Saves Lives
https://www.samaritans.org/support-us/campaign/small-talk-saves-lives/
We can all be fearful of talking about suicide, worried we will say the wrong thing… but the more we talk about it, the more awareness we have and one day we might be in a situation where we can save someone’s life.
Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50.
Men are 3 times more likely to end their life by suicide than females.
The rate for females under 25 has increased by 93.8% since 2012 to its highest level in 2019
(taken from Samaritans suicide statistics report)
These may be shocking statistics to you or these may not come as a surprise, either way we need to remember that every suicide is a person that was struggling and suicide is preventable not inevitable.
Please share this post, please encourage anyone to seek help that is struggling, Samaritans are always there, 24 hours a day 7 days a week, they do not judge or tell you what to do.
